Lights Out 17 Recap

Lights Out 17 marked another chapter in what has become a 10-year tradition for Soucek Racing. This race has turned into more than just an event on the schedule — it’s a weekend circled every year for the racing, the people, and the time spent together.

This year ended with a semifinal finish in Open Comp.

Track conditions moved around throughout the weekend, but the Trick Flow powered Nova stayed consistent and gave Joe Soucek Jr. a car capable of running late into eliminations. The combination, backed by Biddle Performance and K&N Filters, continues to do its job when it counts.

The semifinal matchup was against Ken Grant, who ultimately went on to win the event. It came down to a double breakout. Soucek was .018 on the tree and took .014 at the stripe, ending up on the wrong side of a double breakout against the eventual winner.

Beyond the racing, Lights Out is about the people. Time in the stands with friends and family never gets old. One of the highlights of the weekend was watching close friend Cameron Kardules capture the win in the 6.0 class.

And as always, Mama Duck’s cooking didn’t disappoint. After long days at the track, that alone is worth showing up for.

Soucek Racing appreciates the continued support from:

Trick Flow Specialties
Hoosier Racing Tires
K&N Filters
Biddle Performance
Wiseco Pistons
Angry Duck Graphics
APD Carbs
Timbob’s Shed of Horsepower

The tradition continues.
